Still rummaging through medicine, Johnny declined Lucy’s offer of help, quickly looking at labels, throwing them to the side, and moving onto the next one. This would, however; come to an end as the doctor came into the room, nobody interrupted him as he spoke, diagnosing everyone as he looked them over and for the most part, he seemed to have everything down.

“Y’all would not believe us,” Johnny replied to the doctor’s question, shaking his head in the process. “Well … I guess you should know, huh? This thing just showed up when the power went out, don’t know why, don’t know how, don’t care, either, but … Darn thing showed up and took girlie, oh’n this here is Natalie,” Johnny gestured to the wounded girl, “Like I was saying, the thing took the girl and dem robots started freaking out and shining it with lights, the monster freaked out, too, at this point, and started attacking us. It was smart, too, don’t know if Mark noticed, but it was holding the girl hostage--I got her down, though. Fell and hit her head in the process and Mark killed the thing,” shrugging, Johnny looked to the others in the room, giving each a moment’s glance before returning to the doctor. “It, uh, disintegrated after we killed it. Skin’s still there, I think, but … That’s all.”

It was all very hard to believe, the accented man thought, but that didn’t mean it wasn’t the truth. Something had obviously injured them, so that much was true, and the Doctor need only go to the other Medical Bay to confirm the incident.

“Naw, don’t think we’re in any danger, not right now, at least. Lights bothered the shit outta the thing, after all. If another was here, we’d hear it, I think, or the robots. And … Yeah, Markus, the fella who took down the thing got hurt pretty bad, I think, but Lucy,” Johnny gestured to the woman, “fixed ‘em up, you should probably still take a look at him, though.”

It would seem the good doctor had arrived, and in perfect timing really. Natalie really needed to be seen by someone professional. He jumped right in, thank god he wasn’t a scatterbrain. He rattled off some medical terms while checking over the other two, and then the questions started...so many questions, she didn’t know how, or care to answer at the moment.

Luckily for her, Johnny stepped right up to the plate. He seemed to be like..Natalies big brother or something. It was for sure a good thing though. After a couple minutes the doctor had been brought up to speed. And at the mention of her name, she raised her hand with a small smile.

“I’m no doctor, but I did the best I could.” She leaned back against the table and wondered how Markus was fairing. If what Johnny has said was true, Markus was in no real danger of whatever attacked them here, but god only knows what else was lurking around this place.

Johnny said that something had taken her. In her dream, she had been picked up by a hungry something--something that clearly wanted to eat her, and something or the rather happened to make it let her go. But that was just a dream, right? Johnny was just making up that whole story, right? About how she got hurt. It had to have been a car wreck or something. Maybe . . . maybe she was out with one of her friends! Yeah--she had to be out with Sierra! And then they must have gotten into a wreck near the warehouse district, where it was hard for an ambulance to get to, and someone must have rear ended them or something, because Sierra was an amazing driver.

Oh God-- what if Sierra was hurt worse than me . . .?

That was a horrifying thought, and she'd have to ask the doctor about that . . . later. Of course Sierra would be okay; she always buckled up! Natalie didn't even need to be concerned about that. Natalie was the one that was stupid; she always forgot to buckle up, and Sierra always kept telling her that she'd get herself hurt really bad doing that someday.

Well, it seemed that someday had to be today. Sierra would probably laugh at her next time Natalie saw her. That's how she was. If a person was otherwise fine, just bound to be uncomfortable and slightly pained for a week or so, and it was completely their fault, Sierra would have a laugh. Some people didn't like that, but it was that kind of blunt honesty that ensured Natalie's friendship with her.

Natalie just have to find something more embarrassing about Sierra to laugh at, when she saw her next.

In any case, so long as there weren't going to be any needles involved, Natalie was going to be okay. Unfortunately, there were no doubt going to be needles involved. A needle was used to stitch up wounds, and she specifically needed two things: stitches (on the back of her head) and pain killers.

Dr. Smithson decided not to pursue the issue any further. However, he did have another pressing isue on his mind. They did not have infinite supplies of medical tools, most importantly antibiotics. It was during shortages like these that he had to fall back on his roots in herbalism. There were at least some advantages to coming up in an exceptionally open-minded family. He would direct his queries mostly to Johnny, as he seemed a resourceful fellow. He would say in a distracted tone: "Well, I suppose I will have to console myself in that we are no longer in danger. However, I must urge you to take more caution in the future.

"Now then. Because we have finite resources, I would prefer not to use what precious items we have unless we are in a true emergency situation. If it is at all possible, I would prefer to procure some herbal alternatives. Specifically, garlic, as it acts as a natural antibiotic when prepared properly. Furthermore, sweet sagewort, hawthorne, chamomile, goldenseal, mullein and valarian would all be nice. Oh, and comfrey too. It's fine if you can't find them, but it would help. Oh, and if someone would send in the fellow that got seriously injured, i'll see if I can help him further." now content that he had ordered the strangers around enough, he'd put on a pair of latex gloves, a box of which was thankfully lying around. He would then begin peering around at the medical supplies that were apparently rummaged through.

Finally, he would cock his head back towards the others in the room, and say without a hint of sarcasm: "Thanks for helping out, guys."

“Yeah, … “
Johnny replied back to the doctor’s suggestion, almost in disbelief. Did he really just inform them to be more careful against rampaging monsters? That had to be a joke. Disregarding that, it was also unbelievable that the doctor named off a bunch of roots and herbs, oh sure, garlic should have been easy enough to get, provided the kitchen was stocked, but … The other stuff?

“I might have that stuff, in a few months, if they properly placed everything in stasis, or whatever.”
Johnny recalled quite vividly what had happened to the cigarettes that were in his hand-bag, but … They would have to prepare his crops and stuff far more thoroughly, right? Not to mention that they had overslept by a seven-hundred years. This doctor must have had a screw loose.
“Unless you mean for us to go out there. And if’n that’s the case, well, that just don’t seem too smart.”

Johnny shrugged; maybe the doctor meant that he would eventually need those things? He obviously had a medical stash currently, so for today’s emergency, it should be fine, right?

“Well, I’ll check what they left me to work with, at least … Might be some grown samples in stasis, or somethin’, but I ain’t been there just yet.”

Another shrug and Johnny removed his attention from the doctor and placed it onto Lucy, as she was the last person to speak to Markus, who had went off on his own business.

“Did Mark say where he was going or did he just take off?”

The good doctor seemed to be a sarcastic ass, it didn’t really settle right with Lucy, at all. “You know, we did the best we could, where the fuck were you?” She took a defensive tone, after all, any of them could have died, specifically Johnny or Markus. “As for all the things you are demanding, they might be in the kitchen, I noticed some things shrink wrapped more or less. It’s down the hall, big metal doors, good luck.”

She sure wasn’t going back there, not alone, and not with this weirdo. Her attention turned to Johnny as the last words he spoke were finished. “He said something about going to find out what was wrong with the generator. He asked me to stay with you, if you don’t mind that is.” She suddenly came across more innocent, as if silently pleading him not to leave her alone.

“Thank you, by the way. I don’t know what happened here, but I know whatever was in the kitchen with me, was scary as shit, and I didn’t even have to see it. But what the two of you did for that little girl.....well, it means a lot.” Her voice was quiet, a whisper. Perhaps it was because she didn't wanna be overheard, or perhaps it was a moment that she felt should be shared privatly, either way, she was sincere.

She didn’t have to know the child. Natalie was a child, and that was all that mattered. The tie that would bind them, or the greatest weapon to use against them. She wondered if anyone else realized how powerful that innocent little girl was.

The doctor had spouted off all these items . . . literally three fourths of them, Natalie didn't recognize. They were . . . herbs, some of them? Yeah, that's what they sounded like. Herbs. Natalie didn't know much about herbs. Her parents didn't grow a garden or anything, either. Nor did any of her friends.

So, Natalie was quiet, still content to just hug the mysterious shirt to her body for decency's sake. It kind of made her wonder, though. If she had gotten into a car wreck or something alone those lines, where did her clothes go? And this shirt really didn't really look all that familiar, either. Yes, yes, it definitely was not her own shirt. It had to be someone else's, probably given to her as some sort of makeshift blanket. But that wouldn't explain why she was naked in the first place. Natalie could have sworn she was wearing clothes before this.

"Wh-where's my clothes?" she asked meekly.

But, unfortunately, she had spoken while the others were talking, and far too quietly to be heard. Not the doctor, Johnny, or Lucy were going to hear her. Natalie tensed up a little and retreated back into silence.

Dr. Smithson was fine with Johnny's answer. He didn't really expect a working garden to be in place after all this time, and with the amount of supplies they had, it wouldn't become a problem for a while. Besides, the herbs he was looking for were typical for more mundane sorts of diseases. Something this important demanded something of a more industrial grade. As much as he disliked doing it, he would begin pouring some of the stinging disinfectant that came with the place into a cotton swab and began prodding at the wounds that the people recieved in their struggle with... whatever. He could still feel a bit of annoyance at what the somewhat rude girl had said to him. Perhaps it was deserved, and perhaps it was rational in this environment, but everyone was feeling a bit testy, and the good doctor was no different.

He would, with a bit of acid in his voice, retort: "Where the fuck was I? If you didn't know already, some medical supplies don't hold up so well when the power cuts out. I was in the medlabs, making sure vital resources don't spoil on us. And as for my 'demands', I ask only for things that can keep us alive for as long as possible. Oh, and last time I checked, demands aren't amended with 'It's fine if you can't.' All I have to apologize for is doing my job as a doctor!"

With that, he realized he was letting himself go overboard. He counted to three in his head and sighed: "And I suppose for being a general prick in all the five minutes we've known each other. Heh. I'm sorry 'bout that. I'm a little tetchy, given the situation, y'know. This isn't exactly the ideal way things could've turned out. I think we can agree on that, at least. So here's the deal. I'll stand here and do my job, trying not to reinforce my first impression, and you try to forgive me. Sound good?"

Any other day and Johnny may have found the way things were turning out, to be funny, with the exception of the earlier attack, of course. But at this point he was simply too tired to even bother and that was the truth.
Regardless, Johnny was thankful that he had not been seriously injured earlier, this meant that he only needed his cuts and scrapes disinfected, if that. Although there had been a slight worry at the back of his mind as to what kind of diseases and other such things he could have picked up from that creature’s blood and its rough, jagged hide … He’d leave that for later.

After having his minor cuts treated, Johnny would wave the doctor off, should he still be focusing on the man, and instead allow the doctor to focus on the person with a far more alarming condition--Natalie. At the same time, however; Johnny would also realize how uncomfortable the girl was and at how uncomfortable he was, there was a noticeable chill in the room and he was without a shirt.

“Huh,” he shrugged. “I’ll be back in a few minutes, fellas. Going to go grab somethin’ I saw in that other place.”

An invisible shiver ran through the man, just thinking about heading back to Med-Bay 1, it was down right creepy at this point, but … A man had to do what a man had to do, right?

Without much of a wait nor time given for the others to protest, he exited the scene.

The screens within the facility would flicker on, giving off a dim glow as the computers screen saver came on. There would be the sound of static momentarily before it went silent. Then a voice would come through the speakers on the monitors but no picture. “This is Jodie Caulfield. “ her voice rang out with just a bit of background noise. “The generator has been repaired…” there would be a sudden pause and the background noise would get louder.

“What the hell..” Her voice sounded a bit more distant as though she wasn’t directly speaking into the mic.” They did not brief us about this shit” it would sound as though she was talking to someone else, because there would be another muffled voice in the distance.” By the looks of it, a big tank. I don’t know its purpose, probably used for fighting. I dunno.”

There wasn’t silence, but the background noise became louder but still unclear of what the noise could be. However, the facility would feel as though it ‘vibrated’ like a very very tiny earth quake.

“Uh...I’m injured..” the tone in her voice changed from what it was previously. Perhaps there was a hint of fear, nervousness. But defiantly something was wrong. “...were gonna be making our way back, medical....stand by.” Then silence.. a strange noise would be heard like plastic was being rubbed against the mic of whatever it was she spoke into before there was static again.

The connection ended.

Sid saw Cowboy and some girl then thought he heard Lucy, all the activity caused him to get a bit confused and disoriented. "Christ, is this still side effects from being frozen?" His vision blurred slightly for a second then got better and blurred out again even worse. "Fuck me for crying out loud." He went weak at the knees and hit the ground away from all the foot traffic.

"Medic!" Sid called out for a moment feeling tightness in his chest and everything echoed around him. He knew the symptoms, it was a heart attack but what was triggering it, he was perfectly healthy other than the fact he smoked, drank, and other things. Not enough to kill him but still, that moment he was on his back suffering from an accute heart problem. "Gah somebody fucking help me here!" Then all went black and he passed out. There ate age however old he is given the time from when was frozen till this time now he was dieing of a heart attack or something. It was more serious than just a bad case of gas or indigestion.

It was obvious that the generator was back up and running, this was good news. However a voice came over the PA system. Lucy listened, remembering the woman when they had woke up. She was injured, and she sounded scared, too. Lucy bet the other woman would be glad she missed the excitement here though.

Feeling rather useless now, Lucy kinda slumped back from the crowd. She wandered here and there, but stayed close enough that she could hear conversation, or could be heard if something happened and she was in need of help.

Slightly miffed that he didn't recieve an answer, Dr. Smithson took the cook's silence as a complacent response. As he was about to make yet another sarcastic remark, he heard someone calling for a doctor just outside. Quickly, calmly, and above all professionally, the doctor raced out to survey the situation. He found a seemingly healthy person (although clearly smelling of cigarette smoke) clutching his chest. Chances were, this was a simple heart attack. Smithson would race back into the medical supply closet and retrieve a scalpel, several pill bottles and an automatic exernal defibrillator. All the while, he would consider the causes of this sudden attack. Nearest he could figure, a cholesterol blockage in one of his arteries had become brittle, and had ruptured not long after thawing. That would induce the requisite clot. A bit pseudoscience for Smithson's taste, but it was his best guess.

Either way, he had to work swiftly. The longer he waited, the more risk of permanent damage the soldier in front of him would have. There was one thing he would do before taking steps to wake him though. With a quick search, he would find the downed man's smokes and stow them in his lab coat pocket. As a doctor, he couldn't in good conscience leave him with the deathsticks he carried around. Especially after this event. The doctor would then quickly count out some pills. Namely aspirin, some blood thinner and some anticoagulant, then proceed to carefully make the passed-out man swallow them. Then he would use the scalpel to make a vertical slit through his shirt, freeing up a direct passage to his chest.

The defibrillator would come to life with a beep that has remained familiar all through the thousand years. And luckily, it was one of the newer sticker type units. That meant he could avoid the cliche of the paddle electrodes. With the adhesive's backing quickly removed, the electrode stickers would be applied to the soldier. Out of more habit than anything, Smithson would shout "Clear!" and switch on the unit. Hopefully it wouldn't be long before the soldier came to. Before long, the doctor would have to resort to more drastic methods.

She'd been bandaged up. Stitching hadn't happened, of course. Either it was a matter of disinterest for either party or a lack of supplies on site, but Natalie had simply been bandaged up either way. She had a bandage around her forehead, to cover the wound on the back of her head, and around her afflicted thigh, which was cut up pretty bad.

And Natalie was left alone. She glanced from one side of the room to the other, but it seemed as if all had left in favor of attending to . . . someone else? Someone that had screamed just a moment earlier. Maybe there had been someone else in the car wreck? Natalie hoped that wasn't the case, but it was likely. One didn't go ramming one's car into poles and walls, car wrecks generally resulted from other drivers and such being involved, or pedestrians-- oh God! What if that man was a pedestrian? That'd be horrible for everyone!

Natalie figured that she'd have to ask once others were back in the room with her, but as is, she was alone on an examination table, while the doctor and this new patient were elsewhere and Lucy was drifting close by. That didn't explain where Johnny had gone, and Natalie was a little worried about that for some reason, but the girl was patient enough. Or at least she tried to be. He'd be back in no time at all! And besides, it wasn't like there were really monsters or anything like that--so what did she have to worry about?

Almost as though the man did not care, Johnny would return to the scene, tiptoeing around the doctor, and the man suffering a heart attack. In fact, Johnny paid almost no real attention to them, avoiding them in such a way that they may have scarcely noticed him, had they, however; they would see that he was now fully clothed, wearing a white T-Shirt, and carrying a black duffle bag reminiscent of those that had been left for them a few minutes after waking.

“Huh,” Johnny shrugged casually. “We ain’t exactly the luckiest bunch of people, I guess.”
Whether or not the man was talking about the soldier being treated by the doctor, or referring to the transmission that had been sent throughout the facility would remain a mystery.

Giving Lucy only a slight nod, a greeting, really; Johnny would continue fully into the Medical Bay, setting the black duffle bag at Natalie’s feet, atop the examining table, and patting the thing to bring it to her attention, gesturing that it was hers.

“What happened here?”
He finally asked.
