Liberated City: Dachinst

Nestled just outside one of the few entrances into the Darokin shell and right in the middle of a large trade route, Dachinst is a city on the outskirts of Darokin and often takes advantage of the lucrative trade from Sythinian merchants heading in and out of Darokin.

Before its liberation after the great cataclysm, Dachinst and its sister cities were subject to Darokin jurisdiction and sovereignty, and lived under the ever-present eye of their Emperor, Shenfald Destrakghery. However affiliated with Darokin that Dachinst was, it is common knowledge that few had any love for Darokin or its oppressive government, but with the constant fear of being drafted into the army, these were mostly unspoken, silently acknowledged feelings.

Despite the lack of patriotism towards their motherland thoughts of fear, xenophobia, and distrust were bred and sown amongst the populous, even despite its economic success. These feelings would still be present when the Drunalan Empire first made contact and yet remain even after the decisive battles that lead to Dachinst’s liberation; although, these feelings decrease as time moves forwards and interaction with the Drunalan Empire occurs.

The population of Dachinst consists of mostly humans, though a few in-humans and hybrids do live in the city. Socially, the people of Dachinst are still recovering from years of oppressive rule, but were already much more used to freedom than those inside the Darokin shell and the transition isn’t too hard, especially with the increased exposure to other cultures from living on the outskirts of the nation. Racial features include the typical fair skin, a varying degree of different hair colors (black, grey, white, blonde, red, and so forth), and eyes that range from gold to violet. Gifted, they are also born with natural talent for magic, though only the elite few are allowed to pursue magic’s call.

The architectural design of Dachinst’s buildings are obviously heavily influenced by Darokin and Sythinia’s cultural designs, but also incorporates ‘flavors’ from Algeroth and Cizok, though to no excessive degree. Residential areas make up the bulk of building placement near the mountain pass and at the very outskirts of the city, leading away from Darokin. Businesses and other such buildings tend to be focused more heavily in the middle of the city, though the size of Dachinst isn’t large to begin with, and most things are within convenient reach of one another.

The War Academy of Dachinst is situated outside of the city, itself, though not too far, and is quite visible from any vantage point.

Offtopic: Work in progress.
