Born Carthares Angelus Ingram. Both of Carthares' parents were killed; his mother during child birth, and his father due to supernatural means. It is believed the Ingram familial pass down much more than an heirloom at adulthood. From father to son, an ability is inherited as well; the Raccolta, it means "devour or digest." Each Ingram male, on the eve of their 21st birthdays gain the inheritance. From thirteen (13) to twenty (20), Carthares has had a recurring dream of a single woman he's never met in his life. Much like any other individual Carthares grew up leading a run-of-the-mill, normal life. That was until his 21st birthday.
A birthday present like no other; Carthares received the true reason behind why his father disappeared that night on his arrival. It wasn't out of fear, nor hatred of his newborn son, it was tradition; it was a birthright, Carthares' birthright, much like his fathers' before him on his day of arrival. That wasn't the only thing he received that night. Carthares was greeted with the woman he knows now only by Persephone; his light-bringer. Akin to each Ingram male preceding him, he is given a light-bringer to accompany him until his death. Her main purpose is to purify him after each session of cleansing the world of darkness, and also keep the Void inside him at bay.
Through Persephone, Carthares has learned to quell the Void in him and understand his purpose, his past, their family history, his future, and his abilities. Carthares has a unique way of consuming the darkness and evil in the world; there is an invisible point in his chest where he digests the evil and re-distributes the energy through his pores in the form of black specks known as "Hollows." Carthares' main ability is to consume the latent energy in the world around him, both good or light, neutral, and evil or dark. Through this process manifests a plethora of innate abilities; augmentation of physical attributes, the creation and manifestation of weapons made of both dark and light energy (or a combination of the two), create torrential storms of blackness and evil, and even potentially embody the Void to name a few. These powers assist him in battle against evil.
Carthares, with Persephone at his side, travel the land under the aliases "Nomad" and "Cora" respectively, banishing demons and darklings alike, and consuming any evil in his path. Carthares has become the itinerant purifier of the lands, while Persephone assists him in battle, and cleanses him afterward.
