Name: Cornelius Orrig

Age: 29

Race: human

Gender: male

Occupation: Nomadic Pessimist

Pseudonyms/nicknames: none

Appearance: 5'11" in height, around 170-180 lbs (fluctuates on a weekly basis) in weight. Green eyes, dirty blonde hair. He has a perma-frown and general displeased expression. In good shape, some scars riddled across his body.

Demeanor:

A man who used to have faith. He is interested in cultures, and yet the more he saw, the more he despised. Cocky and arrogant Cornelius continues to travel as a Priest, yet no longer associates himself with any specific religion. When asked he states 'they're all shit, anyways.' He likes people who live and do things for themselves, hating people who are trapped by others or living while letting themselves be taken advantage of, whether they realize it or not. He will make you so angry you'll want to kill him, and he'll be ecstatic if you try.

History:

He started out as a nomadic Priest, trying to help people where and when he could. He was willing to sacrifice everything for the greater good. He met a boy in a snowy city whose only wish was to die, for he had the devil within him, and was forsaken by angels. Against better judgment Father Cornelius Orrig, at the time, helped this boy. It took more than a year, and when the boy's strength was finally exhausted, he found his faith was shaken. Nothing could have been done to save the boy, and later on he discovered that nothing could be done to save himself. He had been living with a disease for nearly his entire life that had gone undiagnosed.

Fearing death, Cornelius Orrig turned his back on his faith, preferring to follow only the life he wished to pursue. He no longer offered his help, and began to detest anything that rubbed him the wrong way. A once kind man with many doubts on his mind was now a very pretentious one, causing many doubts in others.

As if this was not enough, The religion he was once a part of, and another religion began to feud. Both were small-time religious, with only a few thousand followers in the snowy northern regions of the continent they lived. To get the world to pay attention and take them seriously, they announced their desire for holy war. To avoid any meaningless death, they held a group pilgrimage to a small, barren ice wasteland. No matter what its name, they called it Evanlayce, and thousands of people died there. The survivors became 'The Faithless,' and Cornelius mourned for them, fasting, for a week. He helped to build a monument of snow and ice, stained red with blood of the innocent and the guilty, the right and the wrong. To this day, years after, the pillar stands tall - crimson as the day their blood was spilled.

Contacts: none

-Equipment-

Weapon(s): Fists, verbal abuse
Armor: none
Items: a cantene filled with fresh water, bread and preserves
Clothing: always changing - has about 10 tight black sleeveless shirts.

-Skills-

Purification - Within his body only. He can purify mild poisons, swamp water into fresh water and the like. It does not repair damage done to his body by a poison before it was neutralized, and it definitely does not improve the taste of swamp water.

Berate - Sentient beings with low willpower will be easily upset by his sarcastic remarks.

-Flaws-

Lack of Faith - a holy man who has turned his back on both the people he set out to protect, and the Gods who were supposed to rule them.

Deadly Disease - Cornelius has Atheroma, a disease which causes cells and cell debris (containing lipids, calcium, and various amounts of fibrous connective tissue) to build up on the sides of arteries. It manifests itself as early as age 1 in some cases. 25% of patients will not live past 30 (Cornelius being 29) and there have been many approaches to treatment, but none that are truly proven to work. Apart from that, the medications may not even exist in Utopia.

Deathwish - Cornelius goads nearly everyone he meets into anger, regardless of consequences. He's toughened up considerably due to people beating on him constantly, but there has been more than one scenario where he almost did not get back up. He relishes in the anger he provokes in others, but he definitely feels the side-effects. It's only a matter of time before someone really tries to kill him.
