Special thanks to Dean for getting this awesome artist to do this awesome picture!
-- Demeanor: Brash and loud, Kaiser has an almost supernatural ability to get on the nerves of those around him, particularly his partner and protege Fenix. He enjoys fighting and adventure, and takes almost nothing seriously, tending to cause others to dismiss him as just some idiotic muscle-head.
However, when things get tough he reveals just how intelligent and competent he could be, wielding powerful and difficult to control magic. He's survived for over a decade in a dangerous business, and has a lot more wisdom and experience than he lets on.
.:. History .:.
Where Zach Kaiser came from is completely unknown; he simply showed up in the Uncharted Territories one day, determined to make a name for himself. Though no huge successes are ever attributed to him, he's rumored to have been involved in all sorts of incidents--not all in favor his reputation. Much about his life remains a mystery, and the number of people who can claim to really know him are few.
What is certain is that at some point he began taking care of a young boy named Fenix Black, who initially acted as something of an apprentice to him but now holds himself on more or less equal standing. Much of the funds they earn go to a group of orphans staying at an abandoned church in the Uncharted Territories, though the orphans are virtually self sufficient now.
.:. Contacts .:.
Fenix Black: Friend and partner. "Fenix has come a long ways from when I found him cowering in a corner of that church. I'm really proud of him."
Shin Shiden: Comrade. "I couldn't stand the guy at first, but it seems like he's mellowed out a bit since then."
Remington Vaerbond: Comrade. "He's hotheaded and arrogant, but he's got a good heart when it counts....what do you mean it reminds of you someone?"
.:. Battle Information .:.
Swordplay: Kaiser wields a magical bastard sword called the Aquasoul...though, the only thing magical about it seems to be that it never dulls and is nigh indestructible. His "style" is flashy and full of large movements, but despite this he's decently competent with his blade when it comes down to it, though by no means spectacular.
Elemental Magic: Zach is what is known as an elementalist, a person to whom wielding elemental magic comes naturally. His power is innate rather than learned. It's divided into three parts--Water/Ice, Holy, and Star magic--in ascending order of power. Despite the division of the elements, they all come from the same source of internal power, and thus are interlocked. Water represents the lower levels of his power, while Star represents the upper. (In the old point system, they were all essentially the same skill, with the points divided to show just where the lines of power were drawn.)
Kaiser's magic is incredibly powerful, and he is extraordinarily skilled at it. It's entirely possible he's one of the strongest mages alive. It's his primary method of combat for a good reason. However, he rarely dips into the upper echelons of his power, limiting himself to Water magic unless it's absolutely necessary for him to draw on something more powerful.
Shunpo: The only way Kaiser knows how to manipulate chi is by concentrating it into his legs, allowing him to propel himself near instantaneously in a straight line. Used for dodging, as well as in conjunction with a sword fighting. Thanks to this technique, Kaiser has a much better reputation as a physical fighter than he'd otherwise deserve.
In a pinch, if he can get both feet on an opponent it can also be used offensively as a super-powered kick.
.:. Equipment .:.
Kaiser keeps a variety of necessary traveling supplies in his backpack. Otherwise, his only notable piece of equipment is the Aquasoul. Because he relies on agility more than strength, he wears no armor.
.:. Talents .:.
Swordplay: The ability to wield sword, particular specializing in the bastard sword. Kaiser is competent with the sword--above average, even--but by no means spectacular.
Elemental Magic: The innate ability to cast elemental magic and control the elements. Divided into three parts:
Water: One of the five base elements, it's arguably the weakest of all elements, but also the most versatile. Kaiser has been using water magic all his life and has mastered the art.
Holy: A mid level element, a holy light. Normally it specializes is healing and defense, but Kaiser is not very good at either of them. He instead focuses on the few but powerful attacks the element possesses.
Star: A high level element, Star magic is extremely destructive, as it is essentially raw, unstable mana compressed into the form of energy. Some scholars argue that it is actually Destruction magic under a different name, but as nobody living has ever seen it this can't be confirmed. A scarce and volatile element, most of the rare users of this magic have caused their own untimely demise.
Shunpo: By concentrating chi into his legs, Kaiser can propel himself in a straight line and appear nearly instantly at his destination. This is extremely taxing on the body, however, especially if used consecutively.
Mana Sense: Kaiser can sense distortions in and strong sources of mana, and to a limited degree the kind of mana it is.
Magical Lore: Due to his occupation as a treasure hunter, Kaiser has acquired a wide and eclectic knowledge of magic, legends, and artifacts.
Fire Resistance: The mana in an elementalist often affects the body to a large degree, particularly in powerful people. Thus, Kaiser is more resistant to fire than the average person.
.:. Flaws .:.
Cocky: Kaiser is strong enough that it's gone to his head a bit, and he genuinely doubts there's anyone that can match his power. Thus, he doesn't tend to take threats against himself seriously.
Lightning Weakness: The mana in an elementalist often affects the body to a large degree, particularly in powerful people. Thus, Kaiser is more vulnerable to lightning and electricity than the average person.
.:. Thread History .:.
The Starting of Something Good: Kaiser prevents a duel between samurai from becoming fatal, and is drawn into a fight with none other than Shin Shiden. "Just 'cause you're good with that sword, you think you can do whatever you want, huh?"
The Continuation of Something Good: After recovering from his fight with Shin, Kaiser hits the road once more. "Odd...I thought I guy like that would just be angry at me, but instead he wants to come with."
The Finale of Something Good: Kaiser arrives in Galaens only to immediately start a fight with a local; but the true battle is against Theleaus, a bandit leader of questionable sanity who has taken over the city in search of something. "For Fenix, Shin, Remmy and his charges...for all those you've hurt today, I will destroy you, even if it costs me my life!"
