. . . . Physical Information
Species — Human.
Race — Caucasian.
Sex —
Skin color — Fair.
Eye color — Emerald.
Hair color — Scarlet.
Height — 4'9''.
Weight — 94 lbs.
Visible age — 13-16.
True age — 12.
Voice — Although she can (and often will) look older than she really is, Emma cannot mask her voice. She carries an intellectual's tone, but it sometimes wanes into a borderline mischievous nagging voice. Though her natural pitch is alto, Emma's singing voice is actually a well self trained soprano.

. . . . Personae
Name — Emma Vaerbond.
Status — Alive.
Date of birth — 6/13.
Birthplace — Rivvil.
Nationality — Algerothian.
Demeanor — Emma was, for a long time, an extremely mischievous person. As a girl of over-developed wit, fueled by an almost incessant drive to master technical arts of all sorts, she is (still) extremely precocious, often to childish extents, usually leading her to dress and act as if she were closer to twenty than ten. Sometimes this works, sometimes it does not. Emma is most attracted to intellectuals of at least her own caliber, and while she's no qualms with befriending someone relatively unintelligent, the friendship is bound to be an unintentionally patronizing one.
Following an extremely traumatic event, which lead to the scars on her cheeks, Emma has become melancholic and sometimes outwardly hateful. She rarely pulls pranks for pranks' sake anymore, and instead uses her acute wit as a weapon of malice against those she's not particularly fond of.

The scars on the right side of her face are (more often than not) concealed by her bangs, except for times in which she must make a choice without conscience. During such times in which she must make a decision against her conscience, she'll show only the right side of her face to display herself as something monstrous.

. . . . History
Emma's early history is a rough one. Emma was born in the island country of Rivvil, though of Algerothian descent. Both of her parents, former adventurers, had settled down in Rivvil. Shortly after her birth, however, an ordinance was released, evicting her family and the village they lived in from their property. The villagers refused to move, and the mages of Rivvil moved on them. Many villagers were killed, and Emma's father escaped with Remmy, Sarah, and the infant Emma. Her mother, however, stayed behind to ensure her family's escape. There, she was killed when the village was set afire.

The Vaerbond family vacated to the village of Hillcrest in Algeroth, a village far from most large cities and societies. It was there that she met Mayako Takamina and Eldridge Tsukimono through her sister, both of whom she became close friends with quickly. Emma never knew too much about her mother or her family's past, however; Remmy and her father did all they could to keep the depressing truth from her, at least in all its bluntness.

It wasn't long after her twelfth birthday that she, Eld, and the others encountered problems--including encounters with a mad warlord, Theleaus; Eld's becoming a Reaper; and a psychotic known only as the Law. She became extremely close with a man named Davis during this and the two dated for a short period, despite their formidable age difference--Davis at nineteen and Emma at twelve.

While Theleaus was destructive, going so far as to kill Emma's brother Remmy, the Law was devastating. By then, Eldridge Tsukimono had left the village with his fellow Reaper and a friend of Emma's, Etsu Hikane, leaving only Sarah, Mayako, Emma, and Davis together. Following Emma and Sarah's father's death, Sarah abandoned Hillcrest without a word--then leaving Emma, Mayako, and Davis alone. It was then that the Law returned, and as a means of taking manipulating Davis, kidnapped Emma. During her captivity, Emma was briefly mutilated; the Law cut tallies into Emma's cheek, cutting through the skin and even into her gums. Davis rescued her, but disappeared soon after--leaving a scarred Emma with only Mayako.

For some time, Mayako took care of Emma at the local clinic run by Eld's parents. There, Emma attempted suicide numerous times, before being placed on constant watch and care. She eventually left the clinic, sometime after the revival of Fenix Black, a man injured into a coma by Theleaus previously. Driven to madness, she attempted to burn the village down in belief that it perpetuated madness and chaos. Mayako and Fenix stopped her, and in the conflict, she nearly beat Fenix to death. It was Mayako that defeated her and put an end to the threat of her torching the village--and then Fenix, who took the blame for all the crimes of arson to save Emma, despite how much she'd physically damaged her.

The following morning, Emma left Hillcrest to tail Fenix, joined by Mayako, and split off to travel on her own. She's little goal in her travels, much akin to her goals in life; as far as Emma is concerned, she's simply wandering . . .

. . . . Combat
Special abilities — None.

Fighting style — While Emma does carry a wooden sword with her, her skills with it are rather average. She's not strong in the slightest, nor all that fast, but if worst comes to worst and she does have to defend herself, Emma is extremely scrappy, and will trick, deceive, and trap aggressors as needed.

Weapon of Choice — Her wit alone. If she cannot get by with just that, then a wooden sword will do.

. . . . Flaws
Dissociative identity disorder — Emma's distinction between moral and immoral decisions--the switching between a human and monstrous personality--has partially severed her personality into halves: one, a reasonable and sensible human being, and the other a monstrous, immoral, and dangerously efficient doll.
Separation anxiety — Although she tries to pass herself off as independent and capable of being alone, she resents nearly everyone that leaves or abandons her for any reason, even if she was the one to drive them away.
