Nintendo is officially remaking Gold and Silver (titled "Heart of Gold" and "Soul of Silver") for the DS. My source is Serebii.net, who's got a habit of never being wrong. If this makes you want to tear all of your clothes off in brutal ecstasy and run naked through a mall, crying in joy-- well, let me tell you, you may want to find some other extreme form of expressing joy, because I just did that.

Hopefully they opt to remix the OST instead of choosing a completely new one. Gold and Silver's final fight theme was the best thing the games had to offer, considering Nintendo still thinks copy and pasting a bare minimum storyline is BRILLIANT. Pokemans again? Aren't there enough of those already without remaking them? I mean, don't get me wrong, there's nothing wrong with a series that doesn't change much from incarnation to incarnation--I'm a Dynasty Warriors fan, after all. But I think even I would balk at remakes of Dynasty Warriors games.

Yes, yes there is. But fans will still buy the remakes, despite most of them being the same game we played a year prior and we'll also devote months of our time to EV training different Pokemon teams. With justification like that, why should Nintendo/Gamefreak not remake the games?

I'm excited but also not excited, cuz the problem with pokemon games is that once you play one game and spend forever raising your pokemon, do you really wanna leave them behind and start another game?

Migrating them or whatever is a pain in my ass. But I still love Pokemon. Heart of Gold and Soul of Silver seems like a sweet idea.

Well, see, this means that the Gold/Silver games are now compatible with the other games. When they made the switch to the Gameboy Advance with Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald, there was no connectivity to the original Red/Blue/Yellow and the sequel Gold/Silver/Crystal games. Any Pokemon that anyone had in the older games couldn't carry over. It was pretty depressing. Then, they remade the originals into Fire Red/Leaf Green, which is compatible with R/S/E, and, just like the first GBA set of Pokemon games, inevitably compatible for the latest games, Diamond/Pearl/Platinum. This way, people can pick up Heart of Gold and Soul of Silver without the futility of G/S/C, as they'll forever be compatible with the main Pokemon series.

That said, with the futility of playing the original Gameboy games completely removed, it's possible to enjoy Johto all over again. I'm not going to lie. Johto was my favorite land. Especially since it directly connected with Kanto, and provided a bit of a timeline (G/S/C occurring years after R/B/Y, and there being numerous suggestions to such a timeline--including Red as the very final boss).

Manda, I'll buy you Heart of Gold if you buy me Soul of Silver.

Facing Red was probably the most badass thing I had ever done in a Pokemon game, I'm not going to lie. Made doubly so by reading Pokemon Special. Which again brings me to them remixing that final fight theme, it was so god damn awesome.

Also where the fuck is my BodyCrystal, fuck you Nintendo.

I doubt there'll be a Body of Crystal. When they remade the R/B/Y set, they didn't remake Yellow version, they only released Fire Red and Leaf Green. I imagine that they're just going to implement all the extra stuff in Crystal into the two games, with just some differences in the catchable wild Pokemon.

Yeah, but yellow sucked balls. Whereas Crystal introduced sprite animation, if I'm not mistaken. (In battle.)
