His mind was in a fog and she wanted to drill him with questions about his morale. Slowing down for her, he realized she wouldn't easily leave him alone. His mother would be amused by his current state and possibly encourage Chizuru to do her worst. While his entire body felt like it had been drug across firestone, she continued to interrogate him.
Testing her patience, he decided to butt heads with her. “If you didn't trust me, you wouldn't have left me alone with you in a temple. I'm not a simple mortal, I could have killed you right then and there. Your emotional vampire wouldn't be able to help you. He could barely stand the sight of a dead body.” In a sense, this theory was true, but he hadn't planned on the spirits attacking him within the shrine.
Hearing his own tone, he softened his voice. She had a wrath that should be left alone, but he had a talent for bringing it to life. “Whether I hold a title or not, I am bound to you by spirit. I will be your shield and sword. You should have thought about that, before you used a light spell on a demon.”
Nicoli had no importance to him, but they had been trying to work together for a single cause. When she brought up the sword, his right eye twitched ever-so slightly. “I was bound to a King, before I came to be bound to you. I gave up my freedom to save my sister. He requires artifacts of power and I needed the other half to make that damned thing work.” Shrugging, he realized that was moot point now. “You are bound to me now, so none of that matters.” Trydian couldn't promise that his past wouldn't catch up with him, but he hoped King Pendaran would seek another to bind and enslave.
It was embarrassing to remind himself of his failure. “That man is of no importance. He's not a vampire, or a demon, but something of a mutt. I was keeping an eye on him and he happened to notice my presence.” Nicoli could be a problem later, if he thought he wasn't keeping up with his end of the bargain. Trydian would worry about that later though. Right now, he needed to reassure Chizuru.
“WE should bathe? I think you mean that you will bathe.” Taking off his shirt, he exposed his battle scars from the shrine. He'd be damned if he got into the water with fresh wounds. If the servants caught them together again, he could only imagine the chaos that would cause.
Then again, it would be nice to make Katsumi squirm. “You'll need to heal me, before I join you for anything.” Trydian challenged her, wondering if she wanted his company that badly.
