((Continued from this thread.))

The Silver Enigma showed no sign of knowing what happened, but it wasn't like one could just see his face to tell. Eilert would just have to go based on his lack of reaction. It wasn't rare for something like this to happen though; as Guardians, they all had tough jobs, and some slept not but a couple of hours each and every night. Eilert having the job he was given, there was no doubt that he was low on sleep . . .

But theirs were jobs that had to be done. Even if it sacrificed their basic needs--and their lives, they just had no other choice. If they did not act, then no one would.

"I see," replied the enigmatic man.

Silver went silent for a moment, his arms folded behind his back. It seemed as if he were contemplating the nature of Eilert's fatigue. After all, it could very well have been a product of the individual he had encountered. After a minute of feigned though, the Silver enigma spoke:

"I had just informed you that contact with your Superior was recently lost," he finally stated, "It is unfortunate, but that is a truth you must accept."

Eilert blinked in visible surprise at the news that his superior was missing. "Is that so..." From the way he spoke, it sounded like he didn't expect contact to be re-established, either. He either thought that the Gold Enigma was dead, or at least no longer part of the organization, though he doubted the latter. He didn't think she'd go the way of Sturm.

It was disturbing news. While their relationship was strictly business (and not necessarily friendly, either), the fact was that the Gold Enigma was the only person Eilert had had regular contact with for quite some time. Such a change in the status quo was unsettling; he liked things peaceful and predictable.

He shook it from his mind for the moment, though. With his job, he'd have all the time in the world to dwell on it later. "Are you to take over as my direct superior?" he asked; he betrayed no sign of what he thought about that, because he really didn't think much of it at all. He needed to know who he had to report to was all.

"Indeed."

Prior to this, he had been speaking as if the Gold enigma was still around--but it was not so. This left the Silver enigma as the only Prime Director, and thus their short-handed situation. It also didn't help that they lacked in sort of Superior. Technically, this left him as the only authoritative power.

The Silver enigma stoically announced: "For the time being, I am in full charge of the Guardians."

But it was inconsequential to Eilert's mission and reason to be here. He had now gotten a good handle on what the Gold enigma had him doing previously, and it seemed to be the best of options. Keeping things from coming out--it couldn't have been the hardest job. Those gates would have been closed long ago if they had not served use; though, it didn't help that there was difficulty involved.

Eilert could be replaced for now, though. As it was, a potential multi-planar threat was on their hands, and it'd be best if that man was kept in check . . .

"Nevertheless, it may be best that you continue to observe the threat," he remarked before turning around, prepared to begin to walk away--to end the meeting, "If he becomes a true threat, make contact with us immediately. Support will be provided. For now, I will have another replace your earlier role."

Eilert blinked rapidly, the surprise now quite visible on his face. It was telling about his personality that while he found the disappearance of his superior mildly unsettling, he found the news that he would not be returning to his familiar downright alarming. For many, many years, that was his post, and he wasn't honestly sure he could do anything else.

He wanted to ask him if he was sure that a good idea, especially as Lemon would obviously pick up on what he was doing. He was hoping there would be someone in the organization resistant to psychic intrusion that could take over for him. But he also knew better than to question orders.

"Understood," he replied, though he didn't really. "Where should I watch him?" He assumed that he wasn't to bring Lemon into the compound, and if he wasn't returning to the gates, he wasn't sure where to go.

For a second, the Silver enigma stopped walking. He turned his head a bit, the cowl of his hood moving along with his head. It should have been impossible for him to see like that, though.

"Where ever necessary."

And he left it at that. Wherever necessary-- it could have meant a wide variety of possibilities. Eilert could follow the "threat" or travel with him, or he could attempt to lock him up somewhere in order to have a better perspective. The Silver enigma was leaving it all up to Eilert, though it wasn't like he would refrain from helping. Just not right now. This was a potentially threatening matter, but he was in charge of the Guardians, now. It went without saying that the man was momentously busy . . .

So, without further statements, the Silver enigma left. Eilert could come up with any method he intended, but it was up to him in the end. Later, if he concluded that trapping and capturing was necessary (and that he could not do it on his own), he could contact other enigmas for support. For now, though, he was on his own. Fortunately, this didn't mean that the two gates were going to go undefended.

Wherever necessary. An answer that wasn't really an answer, to which Eilert could only assume that as far as the Silver Enigma was concerned it didn't really matter. He was to keep an eye on Lemon regardless of anything else--even the compound though? He was a psychic, and could theoretically read any of the Enigmas' minds, even the Superiors. It was because he didn't wish to take that risk that he had Lemon remain outside while he reported. He decided that regardless of the vagueness of his orders, he wouldn't let Lemon inside the compound willingly.

He left the grim corridors behind, returning to the outside world once more and to where he left Lemon. He wondered if the man was still there; though he knew it would be detrimental the organization, a part of him hoped that he'd taken off. Then he could go back and report to Silver, a more combat oriented Enigma could search for him, and he could return guarding the gates.

Though his face remained as impassive as ever, it wouldn't take much more than a cursory look into his mind to reveal how uneasy he was. Forcing Lemon to do anything on his own would be impossible; though he could be an effective combatant, it was only if he had time to prepare and could surprise his opponent--there was little he could do against Lemon, so he had no other choice but to accompany the man wherever he might go until...well, until it was proven either that he was absolutely a threat or not. And unfortunately, he had no idea how to absolutely prove the latter short of being a psychic himself.

"I am to continue to observe you for now," he'd inform the man who was now to be his companion. He didn't suppose he'd be lucky enough to have Lemon decide to sit near the gates and wait--if he didn't, it would be the Orange Enigma's first time in the world at large in literally ages. He had long since become out of touch with the current world, and knew little of its ways now, which accounted for much of his apprehension.

((OOC: The board either ate my previous post which I know for a fact I posted last night or I was tripping hella balls last night and dreampt the whole thing up. Which I didn't. So, because I'm not typing that whole fucking thing up over again, here's a synopsis of what occurred in the post.))

Lemon finished ranting to himself and was quite offended that Eilert had left before his closing arguments. By the end though, he'd worked himself up into such a belligerent ranty haze, he forgot where he was and why he was there. So, he cast his mind out to the nearest living thing in order to get some sort of bearing on his position. Unfortunately for Lemon, the thing was a squirrel. Squirrels are regarded in the psychic community to be one of the most dangerous creatures of all time. After listening to 3 seconds of the squirrel's internal monologue, Lemon had a brain aneurysm and lost control of the host for just long enough to allow the host to regain some forgotten sense of self. This newfound self decided it would be better to die than endure another lifetime under Lemon's control, so he ran full bore for the edge of the floating sky temple, leaped off, and only after mid-fall was Lemon able to regain consciousness and control of the body. When he realized what had occurred, he took the time before impact to rape the newly formed self several thousand times over before transferring all of his bodily fluids onto the blank canvas that was the snowy white mountaintop. This all occurred while Eilert was tripping balls in the temple with Silver, and by the time he emerged, he'd see no sign of this and could only assume Lemon had left of his own accord. Also, he'd be talking to the air, which would make him seem quite silly.
