Knockin on heavens door

Small villages run by anarchists, religious fanatics, or those who just wish to live off the land, it is a place ravaged by time and nature. Wicked fauna and flora alike form monstrous habitats out of once peaceful ground, but the ever-present human threat lurks ever-present on civilization's mind.

Gabe lifted his hands to the air in symbolizing "surrender" to God and he lowers to his knees and bowed his head letting God speak into Him during the worship. Gabe continued singing his love song to the Lord now deviating from the songs that the ladies on stage were singing. "Lord you know my heart, I've shown you my ways and you've seen my deeds in your name Father for your glory Jesus."

While singing Gabe prayed for the safety and well being of everyone in the town, then for those outside of it, then everywhere knowing times weren't just hard for them here. "Lord you know all and see all for you are awesome and amazing God. I ask that you bless each person good or bad, young and old, and found or lost please Father bless them all for the glory of your name."

Gabe lifted his head again and rose to his feet from off of the floor and lifted his voice as he sang praise to God his voice seemed to drowned out the ladies and their singing. He felt in his heart no worry, no fear, and no pain that no matter what, everything would be alright for he leaned on God his rock, his savior, and friend. His countenance seemed different as his worship intensified an uplifting energetic atmosphere erupted forth from him. It would feel as though Heaven's windows had opened and this amazing oil of anointing poured out onto Gabriel. Anyone around Gabe could tell something was going on with him, something good. The atmosphere of Heaven seemed to be present within their small church, there were no loud disembodied voices but Gabriel's singing echoed around them.

In towards the end of Gabriel’s singing he would hear a sharp electronic noise, as if something were increasing in energy out put. Gabriel would open his eyes and be staring down the barrel of Iras MA rifle. Ira had his goggles and his face mask drawn off of his helmet, so his young boyish face was fully visible. But his expression was nothing short of demonic as his ice cold eyes glared at Gabriel with a chaotic intensity that could only have been matched by that of a rabid dog. In truth he looked quite intimidating with his dusty black armor and all of his various equipment, but it was all a facade. The armor made him look rather bulky, but this was indeed very deceiving. The Manner in which the rifle was held was not.

“I am not kidding.”

“If you ever break out into song and dance again, I am personally going to send you to heaven.”

To Gabriel it would have appeared as if Ira had just arrived in the church. In fact Ira had walked in and was utterly horrified to see a grown man sitting hear singing as if he were the member of a boy band from the late 20th century.

It was almost too much for Aaron to take, his singing was just so hideous it burned her ears but she was so consumed by her amusement to his singing she was now cracking up laughing. Oh and boy did that guy have it right, he sure was singing like he was a man in a boy band. The appearance of the man, and his gun was enough to send Aaron flipping over, literally the chair she sat in went flying back and she was laying on her back with her legs somewhat in the air.

She breathed, the air had been knocked out of her.. she should have been alarmed that the man was pointing a gun to the preacher man’s face..but she didn’t seem to care as she wiggled her way out of the uncomfortable position to stand behind the chair and put it back in place. “I second that.”

She turned and started to walk away brushing her hand through her hair a few times. “I need some air now, all this singing.. just a tad too much.” She waved her hand idly in the air as she stepped out the door for some air.. it was too stuffy in there anyhow.

Her hand rested on her stomach as she breathed, the muscles sore from all that laughing.. thinking about it, she smirked. Laughing was good for the soul.

Gabe looked directly down the barrel of the gun into Ira's cold eyes, "Hi there Ira my good man, good to see you again. While, I am glad you could make it, however, I don't allow weapons inside the sanctuary. Would you mind taking yours from my face before the ladies on stage go into a conniption fit?" He women singing were so wrapped up in singing they were not yet aware of Ira or the gun barrel being pointed in their pastor's face.

Gabe figured this wasn't the smartest of words but, this was greatly embarrassing, having someone in his position be silenced by some brute he'd invited to the town for the night. "I'll stop singing seeing that people who aren't from here can't stand it." He looked to Aaron who was obviously taken off guard but, quickly saw the amusement in the situation. Gabe would indeed laugh too once he wasn't staring down the barrel of Ira's weapon.

"Thank you Lord for bringing this man here. It says to praise you in all things and so I shall O' God." Gabriel apparently had no fear of the weapon but did indeed silence his singing with a smile and now waited for Ira to lower his weapon. He would not plead or beg him to do so he'd rely on the good sense that hopefully was there somewhere within Ira seeing as that Gabe posed him no threat or harm. He turned away from Ira hearing Aaron struggle to get out of her uncomfortable position and then walk towards the door. "I do hope you'll be coming back my dear." Gabe would say to her calmly as she walked toward the door. He back to Ira and looked through the goggles glaring at him, hoping the man behind them would see reason to listen him. At least for the sake that this is a church where the Spirit of God visits His people. The ambiance of Peace still about him.

Ira’s rifle was not in Gabe’s face for long. It was soon raised towards the heavenly roof of the ramshackle church. “Sorry but the rifle stays.” He said sharply as he took deeply inhaled a the cigarette that hung limply from his lips. He exhaled blue smoke that would form into a thin cloud around Gabe’s head. It was smell of like peppermint and death all mixed.

Ira handed the new young woman a casual glance. A woman would mistake this look as him checking her out for the reasons of fornication. Ira’s cold eyes how ever would be the give away to this. It was a look of distrust, he demeanor and fearlessness signified she was not a member of this town. This also meant that if the town came under attack by raiders, he would be looking for her.

“More importantly, I have come to inform you that I need a house for the pregnant woman that was accompanying me…and a pad lock, as well as food brought to me so that I can bring it to her.” The Rifle slid down his right arm, and the thick hide strap fell in line over his shoulder, securing it from his gloved hand. His gloved hand reached up and a pair of fingers fell around the rolled up cigarette, removing it form his lips.

“I also wanted to tell you that more of us are coming, children mostly…but in repayment for your…hospitality we will be protecting your town.” Ira would soon turn away. He figured Gabriel would want to keep close to Mathilda, which was something Ira had figured. Ira’s request, was not for Mathilda’s safety, but rather for the safety of the towns folk.

As Aaron walked out for fresh air, Mathilda was toddling her way inside the small church. Her eyes darted to the girl and her body tensed for a moment, as a desert hawk about to dive for it's prey, before she realized Aaron wasn't a threat. She visibly relaxed and nodded to her as she passed her on the steps up, although her manic eyes never left the girl until the door was shut behind her.

Quietly as she could, she took a seat in the back-most pew just in time for Gabe's rebuttal, sighing in relief for being off of her feet and in a proper seat for once. She sat, splay legged, one hand was placed perpetually on her softly curving belly, the other held her pistol with an iron grip.

The activities of the day had taken it's toll on her stamina, and she felt as if she were about to pass out from exhaustion. They were just lucky they made it here before nightfall otherwise she most certainly would have been picked off if an animal had found them.

Casually she would entwine her fingers through the black strands of her hair as she looked off over the distance of the town. Her own weapon, that machete of a blade hanging loosely around her waist. As the woman started up the way to the church doors, Aaron gave her a glance but not too much of a one over.. she could feel how the woman looked at her, the way her eyes had held her.. so Aaron remained calm and in turn kept her face placid and relaxed. She didn’t want trouble.

However when the girl did nod her head in acknowledgement.. Aaron would smile a little. That was good enough for her.
Aaron’s eyes would turn back to gaze over the horizon, the ends of her dress flickering upward lightly with the little bit of breeze there was.. she was, relaxed..too relaxed, the more she thought about it.. and the more she started to think about that, the more she started to get one of those strange.. uncomfortable and nagging feelings.

A few breaths would be taken in, and then slowly exhaled as she dropped her arms down to her sides..and so, she would have to sit and bare this service. She was, somewhat curious to see the towns people..

Maybe the fact that she was getting to interact with people who were more on the norm side of things.. was what really held her here. That desire to not be alone..

She smirked and shook her head. “Who needs em.”

Turning on the tips of her toes, the dress swirled about her thighs and up into the air before settling, she tromped her way back up the steps and slithered her way back inside of the church.. though she would separate herself from the two that had arrived and sit by herself.

He would cough as the blue toxic smoke filled his face and he'd point to the no smoking sign that was on his shirt in the form of a pin waving the smoke clear of his face. His look was momentarily irritated. Then Gabe nodded to Ira hearing his requests and agreed. "We just had an old couple pass away and there were no children to inherit the property so that house can be yours. Its right next to mine matter of fact." Gabe would wave to Mathilda with a smile greeting her also and then watch as Aaron returned. He was glad to see her. "Food shouldn't be a problem we have plenty. It's one of the best things we have for trade other than weapons."

Gabe's mind had a recheck moment when Ira mentioned more people were coming, "More of you? Children? That shouldn't be a problem, they know how to farm and work the fields right? we need help with that as well as breaking through the north passage to get flowing water from the mountain valley. And the protection you mention, Thank you for that Ira we will be the best hosts to you and your woman. You both will be regarded as honored guests. No one will bother you and a maid will be in to clean your home to cook each evening and clean each morning. As will she tend to your wiif-I mean woman when she's close to delivery. I'll even bless the child once it's born if you like." The last part he was half joking about but Gabe watched him with a smile glad and happy for this blessing of more protection coming to the town. He just hopes it will not become a militarized place over run with gun toating armored goons.

Ira’s single eye close in tightly to form what would be considered an icy glare. “If they want to work in the fields they can, if not they don‘t have to…keep in mind they answer to me, and I answer to me…and when the dying starts, you will answer to me. God may have created you, and so by that logic he sent me here to help keep your sorry ass alive.“ He said softly as he took another inhale of his cigarette, and calmly moved over to Mathilda offering it to her. “Keep the maid clear of the house.” He said looking at Mathilda’s swollen stomach.

“Also, is it ok if she uses your bath tub.” He said scrutinizing her dirty encrusted skin, and brutalized complexion. He noted she had small patches forming on her shoulders. Skin cancer. An easy fix.

“Also, for the safety of the town, stay away from her.” He said Motioning to Mathilda. Ira was very no nonsense, he had little in the way of humor, nor did he have time for manners or respect.

“All I need to know is who is this.” He said pointing to the new girl. “And where is the tallest watch tower in the town?”
