Navigating the med-bay was a pretty easy chore, although a chore none the less, but still, with the flickering lights, the man was able to move from one dark spot to the other, watching his footing now, having fallen once, he was not about to repeat the mistake again. Indeed, it was to his blessing that the creature remained, intently so, focused on the obvious threat.
Markus was a trained soldier, his tactics and strategy at the moment were questionable, but he was trained. He was obviously intimidating and had drawn first blood quickly and precisely, the creature knew who could kill it. Johnny, on the other hand, was no where near as threatening and did not really garner much attention, if any at all. It seemed as though he was being ignored, as he moved around the creature’s side, as best he could, staying behind even the robots with the lights, all the while, the man kept his cool by keeping his mind on the objective and reminding himself that if the thing bled, it could very well die.
It was about time for Johnny’s gambit, his chance to catch the monster off guard, especially now that Markus was directing a new attack, a far more coordinated one than before, although his previous attack would, in fact, help the cowboy perform his own maneuver.
Johnny was a man who paid close attentions to weaknesses, it was one of the ways he made his living, aside from farming, he could find something, poke at it, twist it, and eventually it would break. This creature had an obvious weakness, even to the untrained eye. Before, its tail swung with more violence, aggressively, even. Markus, however; struck the tail with a knife, a knife still lodged into place and it would, most likely, not be coming out of the wound anytime soon.
Johnny was not a large man, by any means. But he was a full grown human male, he weighed just the same as any other man and with its injured tail, especially with the knife apparently having struck at its base, the creature should not have been able to withstand the young girl, the very force of gravity, AND Johnny’s weight. Even without the wound, such a thing should have been nearly impossible, the creature looked no heavier than a human, although perhaps lacking fat and increased muscle output, but still, it didn’t appear to have the ability to warp reality and its height was about the same as Johnny’s. Likewise, with the increased weight on its hind end, the chances of the creature suddenly, violently, or swiftly getting away with the girl were slim, at best. And if it struck out at Johnny, a risk the man had already figured would happen; Markus would have his chance to do whatever it was that he was supposed to do.
The cowboy did, however, rely heavily on the fact that Markus would be quick enough to react to the situation, especially if the creature decided to turn its attention on the new attacker. Johnny wasn’t quite ready to die just yet, but he was willing to bleed and considering that the creature’s tail was spiked, it was something he readily expected.
There was only one thing left to occur before Johnny could make his move.
The creature had to be within reach, he was more or less in a blind spot, assuming it really was ignoring him and didn’t have eyes in the back of its head. Hopefully, the lights from the bots would be enough to coax it into reach, go after Markus, or whatever. Regardless of what occurred, Johnny would remain out of sight, out of its mind, and at any moment the chance arrived--he would grab onto the creature, using every fiber of his being, and hold it for as long as it took.
Obviously, Johnny's strategy was different than Markus' strategy. It seemed like Markus was going after the girl alone, perhaps even risking to break the bone the creature was holding in its grip. Johnny, on the other hand, was going after the monster, which, by proxy, would also free the girl. Likewise, Markus would, perhaps, have an inkling of a thought as to what Johnny was planning, that is if he wasn't solely focusing on the creature, disregarding his surroundings.
If the girl was paying attention, she would see the smallest gesture, a finger held close to lips, as if signaling for her to remain calm and quiet.
